I’m having a problem with a 4-core 9.7″ vertical screen unit I installed in a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The kit came with the proper wiring harnesses so it was a simple plug and play. Had no problems with the install and everything worked as expected. Backup camera, CAN bus, radio, vehicle settings, Carplay, GPS, etc. all worked.
But from the outset we started having the radio lock up and display a black screen randomly while driving. We always have Carplay running and it works fine most of the time, but then we get these black screens.
Usually cycling the ignition will make it come back, but there have been some times that I had to disconnect the battery to get it to reset.
Thinking that it was a hardware problem I exchanged the unit for a new one and installed that. But unfortunately we continued to get the black screen and the system locking up.
So the next thing I tried was updating the firmware from the instructions and files linked in this forum. I updated using the “S815_250116_update.rar” file linked in the firmware update postings. The update went fine and the unit shows the new features and interface.
Unfortunately we continue to get the black screen crashes. I would estimate that it happens a little less frequently than before the firmware update, but still just about once every day.

Hopefully you can help me or have some suggestions to try. Otherwise I’l have to remove this and go back to the original system as we can’t have it randomly locking up and be unresponsive.
